She goes silent and just watches him, “Nikki?” He chuckles. Jack raises an eyebrow and walks over to her, wrapping his arms around her, he scans her face. It’s a Thursday and decided to ditch Gabriel and Velvy for my gorgeous girlfriend.” “Oh… right,” she mumbles unaware she doesn’t sound best pleased. ![]() Clearing her throat she responds, “In here!” Jack appears in the doorway and smiles at her, “hey?” “You’re home early?” She responds. She panics, shoving the tests into her handbag she stands abruptly from the breakfast bar. ![]() Nikki almost picks up the courage until she hears the front door click open. Slowly she picks up a box and reads the back, it would take her less than three minutes to find out, put her mind at ease and potentially change her future. Resting her head in her hands, she tries to build the courage to take them. On arriving home, she sets the rests down still in their boxes on the countertop. Picking up a twin pack of clear blue as well as a few toiletries, she heads to pay. She remembers so clearly the testing kit and where she was the moment, she found out she was expecting Tom’s baby. Her mind instantly hits trauma as she looks across the brands. She would have to tell him either way, but right now she needed to privately take a test for fear of disappointing Jack.ĭressing into something more socially acceptable she heads to Tesco's in search of a pregnancy testing kit. Her mind turned to Jack, her lover, her best friend, and her soulmate. Nikki had to admit she feared the unknown right now. Looking through her diary she had attempted to track her period but with no luck, she decided that it was probably best to take a test. It wasn’t a surprise to her as she was rarely careful with Jack. She knew it would explain everything, she was older than most women would be at the having babies stage. She had been home alone when the thought of her being pregnant came to mind. A couple of weeks in the symptoms became harder to ignore, dizzy spells, nausea, fatigue, and then came the tender breasts. The symptoms had started very early on, mild enough for her to ignore.
